Intel, Cisco, J&J Lure Value Funds as Price Ratios Converge Most in Decade

(Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp., Cisco Systems Inc. and
Johnson & Johnson, perennial favorites of money managers seeking
U.S. stocks with the fastest profit growth, are becoming staples
for so-called value investors.

Shares of growth companies in the Standard & Poor's 500
Index trade at an average 16.3 times estimated earnings, while
value stocks, those priced at a discount to the market or their
historical average, trade at 14 times profits. The gap between
them, now 2.3 points, has narrowed from 25.5 at the beginning of
the decade, data compiled by Bloomberg show.

Sun Microsystems posts 4th-qtr profit as costs fall

(Reuters) - Sun, which returned to profit in the second and third quarters after five consecutive quarterly losses, has tried to stage a recovery by revamping its product line, selling servers powered by chips from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Intel Corp. , among other moves. The company last year announced about 5,000 job cuts to reduce costs.




Shares of Sun, which also sells workstations, software, storage and services, have fallen 9.2 percent this year, as of Friday's close.

Caterpillar, Eli Lilly, Google, Limelight, U.S. Steel: U.S. Equity Preview

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares may have unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. This preview includes news that broke after exchanges
closed yesterday. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company
names. Share prices are as of 8:10 a.m. in New York.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD US) rose 58 cents, or 3.7
percent, to $16.36 in trading before U.S. exchanges opened. The
second-largest maker of personal-computer processors said sales
in the second quarter increased 13 percent to $1.38 billion after
cutting prices to compete with Intel Corp. Analysts had estimated
the company to have sales of $1.25 billion, according to a
Bloomberg survey.

processors said sales in the second quarter increased 13 percent
to $1.38 billion after cutting prices to compete with Intel Corp.
Analysts had estimated the company to have sales of $1.25
billion, according to a Bloomberg survey.

US STOCKS-Blue chips slip at open on inflation data

(Reuters) - The Nasdaq was higher. Chip maker Intel Corp.
received a brokerage upgrade.




The Dow Jones industrial average was down 19.03
points, or 0.14 percent, at 13,408.70. The Standard & Poor's
500 Index was down 0.99 points, or 0.07 percent, at
1,505.35. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 0.09 points
at 2,605.44.

US STOCKS-Futures flat before Fed, data

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 28 - U.S. stock index futures were
little changed on Thursday before a packed agenda that includes
a Federal Reserve decision on interest rates and data that
could shed light on economic growth.




Semiconductors could give the market a lift after chip
makers Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Advanced Micro, Cheesecake Factory, H&R Block, Nvidia: U.S. Equity Preview

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares may have unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. This preview includes news that broke after exchanges

Advanced Micro Devices Inc.(AMD US) gained 23 cents, or 1.7
percent, to $13.87 before the official open of U.S. exchanges.
The second-largest maker of personal-computer processors after
Intel Corp. (INTC US) was upgraded to ``short-term trading buy''
from ``hold'' by Stifel Nicolaus analyst Cody Acree, who wrote
that the company may have increased market share by ``at least a
couple of percentage points'' while second-quarter revenue may
exceed analysts' forecasts.

U.S. Stocks Rally After Measure of Consumer Prices Slows; Intel Advances

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rallied for a third day
after a measure of consumer prices increased less than forecast
in May, easing inflation concern.

Intel Corp., Home Depot Inc. and General Motors Corp. led
the advance. Nymex Holdings Inc. surged after two people
familiar with the discussions said the largest energy market is
exploring a sale.

US STOCKS-Futures rise on Intel upgrade; CPI on tap

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 15 - U.S. stock futures signaled a
higher open on Friday, with technology shares likely to
underpin gains after a broker upgrade of Intel Corp. ,
but investors were cautious ahead of key U.S. inflation data.




Intel shares jumped 2 percent in electronic trade after
Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the chipmaker, a component
of the Dow Jones industrial average , to "buy" from
"neutral."
