GE's $2 Billion Bond Sale May End Game of `Chicken,' Rout in New Issues

(Bloomberg) -- General Electric Co. sold $2 billion
of bonds, a sign that top-rated borrowers can still find demand
in a market that shut out at least 36 companies.

General Electric Capital Corp., the finance arm of the
world's second-biggest company by market value, sold 30-year
bonds yesterday for the first time in about five years. Stamford,
Connecticut-based GECC was able to find buyers when companies
from investment-grade Tyco Electronics Ltd. to high-yield, high-
risk Myers Industries Inc. were forced to cancel sales.

Asia Energy Day Ahead: Crude Oil May Fall; GE Profit Increases 12 Percent

(Bloomberg) -- Crude oil may fall next week on
speculation U.S. gasoline inventories will increase as
refineries finish maintenance. General Electric Co., the world's
second-biggest company by market value, said second-quarter
profit rose 12 percent on sales of power-plant turbines, jet
engines and commercial loans outside the U.S.

S&P hits record as GE, data boost stocks

(Reuters) -The S&P 500 index climbed to a record on Friday, surpassing levels reached during the Internet bubble, as General Electric Co. increased a stock-buyback plan and data showed improving consumer sentiment.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 45.52 points, or 0.33 percent, to end unofficially at 13,907.25. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 4.80 points, or 0.31 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,552.50. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.27 points, or 0.20 percent, to close unofficially at 2,707.00.

US STOCKS-S&P 500 hits record; GE gains on buyback plan

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 13 - The S&P 500 index
climbed to a record on Friday, surpassing levels reached
during the Internet bubble, as General Electric Co.
increased a stock-buyback plan and data showed improving
consumer sentiment.




The Standard & Poor's 500's milestone came a day after a
market rally in which the Dow industrials racked up their
biggest one-day point-gain in more than four years. The S&P
500 also capped its best two weeks in 11 months.

GE, Abbott end $8 bln deal for diagnostics business

(Reuters) - CHICAGO, July 11 - General Electric Co. and Abbott Laboratories Inc. said on Wednesday they terminated a proposed $8 billion deal for the sale of two Abbott diagnostics units to the conglomerate.



The news sent shares of Abbott down about 3 percent in aftermarket trade.

UPDATE 1-GE's WMC subprime unit says sells $3 bln in loans

(Reuters) - BOSTON, July 3 - General Electric Co.'s
subprime lending arm WMC Mortgage sold about $3 billion in
nonprime loans in the second quarter, lowering the volume of
loans on its books to about $1.5 billion, a company spokesman
said on Tuesday.




The loans sold included a mix of first and second liens,
said GE Money spokesman Michael Ettlemyer.

GE Buys Control of Regency Energy, Louisiana Pipeline for $603 Million

(Bloomberg) -- General Electric Co. acquired
controlling interests in Regency Energy Partners LP and a
Louisiana pipeline from HM Capital Partners LP for $603 million.

The purchase included 91 percent of Dallas-based Regency's
general partner and 16.7 million subordinated units, Fairfield,
Connecticut-based GE said today in a statement on Business Wire.

Stocks set to open higher on M&A

(Reuters) - Shares of Alcoa rose 2.4 percent in trading before the bell after the Times newspaper in London reported BHP Billiton Ltd./Plc , the world's biggest mining group, may bid for the aluminium producer.




General Electric Co. and Pearson Plc may challenge News Corp.'s $5 billion bid for Dow Jones & Co. with a plan that could let Dow Jones's controlling Bancroft family keep an interest in the company, the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal reported on their Web sites.
