US STOCKS-Wall St seen rebounding on solid profits

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 25 - U.S. stocks were set to start
higher on Wednesday, bouncing back from heavy losses, as solid
profits and positive outlooks from Boeing Co and
Amazon.com Inc. overcame concerns about the housing
slump.




The recovery followed stocks' worst one-day performance in
four months on Tuesday, fueled by disappointing earnings and
fear about spreading losses in the mortgage market.

US STOCKS-Indexes up on Boeing, Amazon.com; housing eyed

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 25 - U.S. stocks rose on
Wednesday, bouncing back from the prior session's tumble, as
solid profits and outlooks from Boeing Co and Amazon.com
Inc. quashed concerns about the housing slump.




Financial company shares, which declined sharply on
Tuesday, also underpinned the market's rebound, with Citigroup
rising 1.1 percent to $49.87.

Northrop Grumman profit rises on tech sales

(Reuters) - Northrop, behind only Lockheed Martin Corp. and Boeing Co. in U.S. defense sales, reported quarterly profit of $460 million, or $1.31 per share, compared with $430 million, or $1.23 per share, in the year-ago quarter.




Revenue rose 4 percent to $7.9 billion.

US GAO still researching protested $15 bln 'copter

(Reuters) - Government Accountability Office spokesman Michael Golden
said it was premature to forecast an exact date, but the Air
Force said it expected a decision 60 days after the second
round of protests came in -- or around early August.




Sikorsky Aircraft, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
, and Lockheed Martin Corp. last month protested
the Air Force's revised terms of the competition, which Boeing
Co. initially won last November.

US STOCKS-Indexes rise; Boeing, Google aid advance

(Reuters) - The view that second-quarter earnings will beat
expectations has been gaining supporters, analysts said, but
worries persist about inflation and bond yields above 5
percent.




Boeing was among companies that led the Dow industrials'
advance, with a 1 percent gain to $99.91 on the New York Stock
Exchange, a day after the jet presentation.

Boeing unveils 787 Dreamliner amid order flurry

(Reuters) - The elaborate unveiling ceremony, at the company's Everett, Washington plant, gave the crowds their first full look at the mid-sized, long-range jetliner, which has sold well early on and is Boeing's first all-new plane in 12 years.




Thousands more watched the event -- hosted by former TV news anchor Tom Brokaw -- live at Qwest Field stadium in nearby Seattle, and Boeing broadcast the ceremony worldwide on satellite television.

Boeing on track for record year

(Reuters) - Boeing took orders for 70 of its carbon-composite 787
Dreamliners in the April to June period, the first of which is
set to roll out of the company's Seattle-area plant for the
first time on Sunday.




Airlines also ordered 22 777 minijumbos and 136
single-aisle 737s.

(Reuters) - Dassault, whose clients include blue-chip companies such as
U.S. planemaker Boeing and Japanese carmaker Toyota
, also said it was extending a partnership with
Microsoft .




"3D must be used by all and for all," Chairman and Chief
Executive Bernard Charles told Reuters on the sidelines of a

Airbus Wins $4.4 Billion Order From Aeroflot for 22 A350 XWB Jetliners

(Bloomberg) -- Airbus SAS, the world's largest
maker of commercial aircraft, won a firm order from OAO Aeroflot
for 22 of the A350 XWB jets.

Aeroflot, eastern Europe's largest airline, finalized an
initial agreement signed in March, Airbus said today in an e-
mailed statement. Aeroflot agreed on June 9 to buy Boeing Co.'s
787 Dreamliners in a contract valued at $3 billion. The A350
competes with the Dreamliner.

JP Morgan says Boeing 787 up to 4 months late

(Reuters) - The head of Boeing's commercial airplane unit, Scott
Carson, said earlier on Monday that the plane was still on
schedule for roll out in July and test flight in August or
September. He said it would be delivered on time to the first
customer in May 2008.

Emirates orders 8 more A380 from Airbus

(Reuters) - Emirates said it had not yet made a decision on its requirement for 100 aircraft in the middle of the market, which pits the Airbus A350 XWB against the faster-selling Boeing 787.




"For the 350 we have to make a decision in the next few months," Emirates Group Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum told a news conference.

US Airways to Order 90 Airbus Planes Valued at $10.7 Billion, Person Says

(Bloomberg) -- US Airways Group Inc. plans to order
at least 90 Airbus SAS aircraft valued at more than $10.7
billion to replace planes and add long-range jets, a person with
direct knowledge of the sale said.

US Airways will purchase about 60 single-aisle Airbus A320
aircraft, eight wide-body A330s and 22 long-range A350 XWB jets,
said the person, who asked not to be identified before today's
announcement at the Paris air show. US Airways, the seventh-
largest U.S. carrier, chose the Airbus planes over Boeing Co.'s
737 and 787 Dreamliner models after months of negotiations.

RPT-AIRSHOW-Boeing shifts green pressure onto engine makers

(Reuters) - PARIS, June 17 - The head of Boeing Co.'s
commercial aircraft unit on Sunday backed a call by rival
Airbus to work closely on producing more environmentally
friendly planes, but said real progress was the responsibility
of jet engine makers, rather than plane builders.




"The questions you ask are more appropriately addressed by
the engine guys than the airframe guys," the chief executive of
Boeing's commercial plane unit said, when pressed on green
issues at a briefing with reporters in Paris on Sunday. "We're
pushing the engine guys as hard as anyone else."
