France, Germany seek to resolve splits over EADS

(Reuters) - Rivalry between French and German camps inside Europe's
biggest aerospace and defense group is widely blamed for delays
to the world's largest airliner, the Airbus A380 superjumbo,
and has strained the two nations' political and economic
relations.




Despite the pressing problems facing the group, Germany
appeared to be resisting French attempts to push through a
speedy management shake-up.

FedEx quarterly profit rises

(Reuters) - The Memphis, Tennessee-based company said net income for its 2007 fiscal fourth quarter ending May 31 rose 7 percent to $610 million or $1.96 a share, compared with $568 million or $1.82 a share a year earlier.



FedEx said the results included a gain from a settlement with Airbus related to its A380 order cancellation of approximately 6 cents a share.

Airbus Wins $4.4 Billion Order From Aeroflot for 22 A350 XWB Jetliners

(Bloomberg) -- Airbus SAS, the world's largest
maker of commercial aircraft, won a firm order from OAO Aeroflot
for 22 of the A350 XWB jets.

Aeroflot, eastern Europe's largest airline, finalized an
initial agreement signed in March, Airbus said today in an e-
mailed statement. Aeroflot agreed on June 9 to buy Boeing Co.'s
787 Dreamliners in a contract valued at $3 billion. The A350
competes with the Dreamliner.

Emirates orders 8 more A380 from Airbus

(Reuters) - Emirates said it had not yet made a decision on its requirement for 100 aircraft in the middle of the market, which pits the Airbus A350 XWB against the faster-selling Boeing 787.




"For the 350 we have to make a decision in the next few months," Emirates Group Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum told a news conference.

US Airways to Order 90 Airbus Planes Valued at $10.7 Billion, Person Says

(Bloomberg) -- US Airways Group Inc. plans to order
at least 90 Airbus SAS aircraft valued at more than $10.7
billion to replace planes and add long-range jets, a person with
direct knowledge of the sale said.

US Airways will purchase about 60 single-aisle Airbus A320
aircraft, eight wide-body A330s and 22 long-range A350 XWB jets,
said the person, who asked not to be identified before today's
announcement at the Paris air show. US Airways, the seventh-
largest U.S. carrier, chose the Airbus planes over Boeing Co.'s
737 and 787 Dreamliner models after months of negotiations.

RPT-AIRSHOW-Boeing shifts green pressure onto engine makers

(Reuters) - PARIS, June 17 - The head of Boeing Co.'s
commercial aircraft unit on Sunday backed a call by rival
Airbus to work closely on producing more environmentally
friendly planes, but said real progress was the responsibility
of jet engine makers, rather than plane builders.




"The questions you ask are more appropriately addressed by
the engine guys than the airframe guys," the chief executive of
Boeing's commercial plane unit said, when pressed on green
issues at a briefing with reporters in Paris on Sunday. "We're
pushing the engine guys as hard as anyone else."

EADS Needs to Offer Russia `Serious' Cooperation Agreements, Ivanov Says

(Bloomberg) -- European Aeronautic, Defense & Space
Co., the parent company of Airbus SAS, isn't yet offering Russia
a satisfactory role to meet aerospace-industry cooperation
pledges, First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said.

``If we talk about a strategic partnership here, we have to
have serious agreements and have a clear prospect'' of joint work
backed by officials in EADS's home markets of France and Germany,
Ivanov said in an interview June 13 at his Moscow office.
