(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares may have unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. This preview includes news that broke after exchanges
closed yesterday. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company
names. Share prices are as of 7:30 a.m. in New York.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALXN US) rose $5.32, or 11
percent, to $55 in trading before U.S. exchanges opened. The 15-
year-old drug developer reported a second-quarter net loss,
excluding share-based compensation, of 61 cents a share,
according to a press release distributed by PRNewswire. That beat
the $1.05 a share loss expected by analysts, according to the
average estimate in a Bloomberg survey.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Are Little Changed; Merck Advances in Europe

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures were little
changed before companies including Merck & Co., the third-largest
U.S. drugmaker, and American Express Co. report earnings.

Shares of Merck rose in Germany, while American Express
didn't trade in Europe. Tellabs Inc. surged after Thestreet.com
said Nokia Siemens Networks may bid for the maker of equipment
for phone and Internet systems. Pharmaceuticals company Schering-
Plough Corp. declined.

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares had unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges today.

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALNY US) rose $7.92, or 52
percent, to $23.12. Roche Holding AG (ROG VX), the world's
biggest maker of cancer medicines, may pay as much as $1 billion
for rights to Alnylam technology that may allow the companies to
find new tumor, liver and breathing treatments.
