German Power Prices for July Decline to Three-Month Low; Next Year Gains

(Bloomberg) -- German power prices for delivery in
July fell to a three-month low as the contract neared expiration.
Power for next year rose for the first day this week.

Electricity delivered in July in Europe's biggest power
market declined as much as 73 cents, or 1.8 percent, to 39 euros
($52.41) a megawatt-hour at 12:40 p.m. Berlin time, according to
prices from broker GFI Group Inc. on Bloomberg. That's the lowest
since March 27.

German Day-Ahead Power Price Climbs on Forecast for Near-Zero Wind Output

(Bloomberg) -- German power prices for next-day
delivery climbed on forecasts wind power output will drop to
almost nothing, reducing supplies in Europe's biggest
electricity market. Year-ahead prices fell.

Baseload German power climbed as much as 15 euros, or 38
percent, to 55 euros ($74) a megawatt hour from the close for
Friday delivery, the last working day, according to prices from
GFI Group Inc. on Bloomberg. The contract traded at 54.85 euros
at 10 a.m. in Berlin. Baseload refers to electricity delivered
around the clock.

U.K. Power Rises on Forecast Spare Capacity to Fall; French Imports Likely

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. power for delivery on the next
working day rose as forecasts showed a likely decline in spare
capacity that may mean more-expensive generation is required to
meet demand.

U.K. working-day-ahead baseload power increased 11 percent to
24.60 pounds ($48.46) a megawatt hour, according to prices on
Bloomberg from the energy broker GFI Group Inc. The last traded
price yesterday for power delivered today was 22.25 pounds a
megawatt hour.
