Richards Bay Coal Exports Fell 3 Percent in July After Train Derailment

(Bloomberg) -- South Africa's Richards Bay Coal
Terminal, the world's biggest coal-export terminal, shipped 3
percent less coal in July than a year earlier after a derailment,
an official familiar with the matter said.

The terminal shipped 5.57 million metric tons of coal, the
official said, compared with 5.74 million tons a year earlier. On
July 16, the terminal said a derailment on a line transporting coal
to the port on South Africa's northeast coast delayed the delivery of
150,000 tons. In June, the port shipped 5.45 million tons.

Australia's Newcastle Port Coal Price Drops for First Time in Nine Weeks

(Bloomberg) -- The price of power-station coal at
Newcastle fell for the first time in nine weeks from a record
as Australian shipments returned to normal after storms.

Coal from the world's largest export harbor for the fuel
in New South Wales fell 4.7 percent to $67.56 a metric ton in
the week ended July 6 from $70.88 in the previous week,
according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.

Australia Newcastle Thermal Coal Price Jumps to Record as Exports Fall

(Bloomberg) -- The price for power-station coal at
Australia's Newcastle, the world's largest export harbor for the
fuel, rose to a record after storms disrupted shipments.

The price of thermal coal for immediate delivery from the
port in New South Wales state rose $4.58 a metric ton to $70.88
in the week ended June 29 from a week earlier, according to the
globalCOAL NEWC Index. About 2.5 million metric tons of coal
export capacity was lost as a result of eastern Australia's worst
storm in 30 years, said the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Logistics
Team, coordinator of rail and port movements for Newcastle.
