ECB's Garganas Calls on Banks to Tighten Lending for Leveraged Buyouts

(Bloomberg) -- European Central Bank governing
council member Nicholas Garganas called on banks to tighten
lending to buyout firms, saying current pricing of loans may not
reflect risks.

``It is crucial that financial institutions properly price
the risks involved and that in some circumstances limit the
amount they lend,'' Garganas said yesterday in an interview in
his Athens office. Banks ``shouldn't be tempted to relax their
lending criteria to attract new business,'' Garganas said.

UPDATE 1-Banks eye Alitalia stakes in Air One deal-source

(Reuters) - LONDON, July 11 - Banks including Banca Monte dei
Paschi di Siena , Morgan Stanley and Nomura
could take stakes in Italian flag carrier Alitalia
by joining rival Air One's bidding vehicle for the
airline, a source familiar with the matter said Wednesday.




While they are already lending to the consortium, they are
also in talks to play a more active part in any successful deal
by AP Holding, said the source.

NYMEX explores sale of company: report

(Reuters) - Banks have not yet been hired to advise the company on the sale, the report said. A NYMEX response is not mentioned in the report, which cited two people involved in the discussions.




Buying NYMEX would allow a traditional cash equities exchange to add products such as energy derivatives to the trading mix it can offer its clients. It trades contracts including crude oil, heating oil and gasoline futures.
